The Stuyvesant Medicine Epidemiology & Disease Society (StuyMED) is dedicated to empowering Stuyvesant High School students with a passion for the sciences by fostering their interests in medicine, epidemiology, and disease research. Through dynamic discussions, hands-on activities, and exposure to cutting-edge developments in the field, StuyMED provides a platform for aspiring medical professionals and researchers to explore potential careers, deepen their knowledge, and engage with a community of like-minded peers.

Speaker Events

StuyMED invites professionals in various facets of MED to speak about their experiences in the medical field, recount their motivation for pursuing their careers, and offer advice to and answer the inquiries of aspiring high school student.

Presentations

Interactive presentations led by the StuyMED leadership board create a more immersive learning environment.

Case Studies

With the aim of establishing a supportive fellowship, StuyMED members will participate in group case studies that build community, develops teamwork skills, and gives members in-depth looks at specific pathologies.

Suturing

StuyMED provides members with opportunities to gain suturing experience with suturing kits.

External Opportunities and Resources

StuyMED will house opportunities for students to network in their community of peers as well as in the community of well-achieved speakers to find internships, volunteer opportunities, programs, and other resources that can further their interests in MED and garner a greater understanding of the multifaceted career option.

StuyMED holds bi-monthly in-person and/or virtual meetings after school, typically on Mondays.
